Eat A Healthy Diet For Healthy Hair
NEWS | 05/15/2022 Eat a Healthy Diet For Healthy Hair

You know the basics of keeping your hair healthy, right? Most people do, or at least they think they do. They use high-quality products that are specially formulated for their hair type, get trims on a regular basis, and even get special treatments at the salon, but there is one basic component to proper hair care that is all too often overlooked- diet. A healthy diet is one of the foundational components of healthy hair

A diet lacking in protein and biotin will lead to slowed hair growth, and protein deficiency is the top cause of hair loss and thinning hair. Without these vital nutrients hair simply cannot grow. You can ensure you are eating the recommended daily amounts by regularly consuming a variety of lean meats, low-fat dairy, eggs, legumes, and soy products. All of these protein-rich foods will provide the building blocks your hair needs for growth.

While fatty acids may not sound too appetizing they are essential nutrients that everyone must have in their diet. Omega 3s from seafood, nuts, flax seeds, and canola oil promotes healthy hair growth by nourishing your hair follicles. Essential fatty acids also play an important role in the production of your natural scalp oils that moisturize and protect your strands.

To defend your mane from damaging free radicals make sure your diet is rich in vitamins C and E. Vitamin C is also crucial to the production of collagen to keep your strand strong. You’ll find vitamin E in foods such as nuts, seeds, and healthy oils. You can boost your vitamin C intake by eating more citrus fruits, berries, bell peppers, spinach, broccoli, and cabbage.

You probably know that orange vegetables are good for your eyes, but did you know that vitamin A is also good for your hair? This vitamin works alongside the essential fatty acids to promote healthy scalp oil production. Spinach is another great dietary source of vitamin A, if you prefer greens.

It may not be a vitamin, but water is necessary for every single process within the body, and that includes healthy hair growth. If your body’s supply of H2O runs low it will conserve water by slowing down non-essential processes, like hair growth. So you need to stay hydrated to keep your hair healthy and growing strong.
