Regular trims will help to improve both the look and feel of your hair by getting rid of the dry, damaged areas and split ends, and reducing breakage. If you’re trying to grow out your hair, this might seem counterintuitive, but keep in mind that the trim doesn’t have to be very significant. A good standard to follow is to trim half an inch to an inch every 2–3 months to keep your hair looking fresh.

Hack #2: Put the hairbrush down

You know that old wives tale that told us to brush our hair 100 strokes a day for shiny, healthy hair? Yeah… that was a lie! Over-brushing your hair can actually cause the opposite effect and lead to damage and split ends. Drinking enough water is essential for your overall health, but it’s also directly related to your skin and hair. Just like how plants require water to grow, so does your hair. Water makes up almost 25% of the weight of a single strand of hair, so it’s recommended to drink at least 8 glasses a day to keep it strong, healthy, and hydrated.
