Men's Hair Care Tips For Gorgeous, Healthy Hair
NEWS | 08/30/2022 Men's Hair Care Tips for Gorgeous, Healthy Hair

It’s no secret that your hair plays an important role in creating your image. Your hair is one of the first things people see so you have to make sure it’s well groomed and healthy to present the image you want to the world. When it comes to your hair there are a lot of things to consider such as the color, length, and style. Even your styling products should get careful consideration. We’re here today with some professional hair care tips to help keep you from feeling so overwhelmed by the task of keeping your hair healthy, shiny, and gorgeous.

Make Sure You Have a Good Wash Routine

Most men don’t give a second thought to washing their hair. They grab a bottle of shampoo from the drugstore shelf and just use it every time they shower. If this is you, you need to make a change. Cheap products and frequent washing can strip your hair of natural oils and leave it dry, frizzy, and hard to manage. You need to be using sulfate-free, salon-quality products to keep your hair in tip-top shape. You also need to make sure that you condition your mane every single time that you wash, and no that 2-in1 bottle of shampoo and conditioner combined doesn’t count. The conditioner needs to be formulated for your hair type and it should be applied and left on for about two minutes before rinsing to give your strands time to absorb the moisture and nutrients.

Once you’ve upgraded to the right products it’s time to tweak your wash routine. Most people shampoo their hair too often. If you’re athletic and workout and sweat daily or work at a job where you get sweaty and dirty on a daily basis you may need to shampoo daily. But if you work indoors, behind a desk, and don’t regularly engage in activities that drench your hair with sweat and grime you can probably skip a day or two between shampoos. If your hair tends to look a little oily before it’s actually dirty you can use a bit of dry shampoo to soak up some excess oil without over stripping and drying out your hair.

If your hair is on the longer side and prone to tangling, use a wide-toothed comb to detangle it before washing. When your hair is wet it’s more fragile and prone to breakage, so getting the tangles out before shampooing means you’ll have fewer tangles to deal with after you shower when your hair is at its weakest. When you shampoo, use only the recommended amount, as too much can be just as drying as shampooing too often. Work the shampoo into your scalp gently with the pads of your fingers. Scrubbing super hard can cause tangles and breakage. After rinsing apply conditioner and allow it to sit on your hair for at least two minutes before rising to give it time to penetrate your strands. Rinse with cool water to smooth and seal the cuticle for super soft, shiny hair.

Dry the Right Way

Do you toss the towel over your head and rub it vigorously when you get out of the shower? If so, you are harming your hair and making it harder to manage. Keep in mind that hair is most fragile when it’s wet. If you start rubbing it hard with a towel you are creating friction that will stretch and break strands and cause tangles. Just use the towel to blot away excess water instead. You also need to be careful blowdrying your hair. It’s better to allow it to air dry when you can, but if you need to dry it quickly, use the lowest heat setting on your hair dryer and stop when it’s still just a little damp to keep from overdrying.

Following these easy tips will help to improve your hair’s health and keep it healthy. You should also remember to come in for a trim every 6-8 weeks, both to prevent split ends and to keep your style looking great.
